According to the Windows WMI documentation: If you wish to monitor multiple computers across the domain, instead add the user to be a member of the “Distributed Com
Users”, “Performance Log Users” and “Performance Monitor Users” groups

We created a network account for wmiagent Does this account need to be added as a user on the local machine in addition to being part of the groups listed above?

Thanks,

I would recommend that you check if the domain groups are added to the local groups. Each environment is different, and there are way too many variables in place (group policies, custom scripts, etc.), to be sure that all of the wmi checks will work. You can try running the WMI Monitoring Wizard after adding the wmi user to the “Distributed Com Users”, “Performance Log Users” and “Performance Monitor Users” groups, and see if this is going to work for you. Let us know if you run into some issues, and we will try to help you out troubleshoot them.

Thanks lmiltchev,

This issue has been resolved.

The service account for WMIAGENT (a network account) needs to be added to Domain Groups: Distributed Com Users, Performance Log Users, Performance Monitor Users.

Afterward, Remote Activation Privileges to Windows DCOM and Remote WMI Access have to be added for service account on each client machines.

(as described in http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ng_WMI.pdf)
