Hi All,

I need some advise on how to best proceed.

I need to create multiple service groups. For arguments sake let's say:

Service Group 1: FTP
Service Group 2: FTPs
Service Group 3: Website 1
Service Group 4: Website 2

Now for each service group I need to see the following:
Service Group 1: FTP
--> srv-ftp-01
--> srv-ftp-02
Service Group 2: FTPs
--> srv-ftp-03
--> srv-ftp-04
Service Group 3: Website 1
--->srv-web-01
--->srv-web-02
Service Group 4: Website 2
--->srv-web-01
--->srv-web-02
--->srv-web-03
Service Group 4: Website 3
--->srv-web-01

so on all web servers let's we are showing, disk space, SSH Service, Ping.

So for my service checks do I need to create a check for each web server. I would like to create host groups but the issue is on each service group I don't want to see service checks for servers that are not related to that service groups.

My concern is we have lot's of web servers and lots of app servers so does that mean I need to create 40 ping checks. With 40 ping checks if I want to make one small change that means editing 40 checks.

What is the best way to do this?

All good.

For service checks don't use host groups just use the host name. By doing this you can now add a hosts specific service to a service group.
