Nagios Support Forum

We just setup the NAGEVLOG for testing on one of our servers and noticed a strange behavior
of our nagios server.

Even we setup no contact/contact group for the notification in the service settings and also none in any of the service templates
Nagios is still sending out notifications to our admin group.

any idea where the problem could be?

Lets work backwards, what type of notifications? host or service or both? Please share the host and services configuration files for the objects which are notifying you. As well as all templates assigned.

sorry forgot to mentioned that it's a service where i have the issue with.
the services where i have the problem with are: Application EventLog, Security EventLog and System EventLog

please see attached the service template.cfg and the cfg of the services of the server.

Can you also post any entries in /var/log/messages that correspond to when the notifications are being sent out.

attached the message file containing relevant entries for the service Application event log.
All users mentioned there are all the members of the CG admin

My guess is this is an issue with implied inheritance. Relevant snippet from the object inheritance page:
The service is probably pulling contacts from the host it is attached to. You can disable notifications in the CCM for that service if you do not wish to receive them.
