Nagios formatting with check_multi

Hi guys,

We're running Nagios 3.3.1 and I cloned the environment to do an upgrade to 4.0.7 (and to upgrade the plugins). The upgrade itself went fine with no issues but when using checks via check_multi over check_by_ssh, something isn't quite right (I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing).

Anyone any ideas ? It's driving me crazy! I've checked the reporting level for check_muli per check and its set at 11. I tried changing it to 2 (HTML) only to see if that made a difference but to no avail. However, if I change the reporting level to 0, it will display everything on the one line, but just wondering if any of you guys have came across this before ?

Thanks for any help, and glad to be a member of these boards :)

Is that the only host/service you have set up on the core server? I'd be interested to see what it would look like with an additional service under that host. I have definitely not seen this behavior anymore. Did you outright clone the system completely? Or did you build a new server/vm from the distro up and import configs?

Hi slansing,

Thanks for your reply. Its a new server (running CentOS6.5) and I cloned the Nagios drives (nagios, nagiosbp, pnp4nagios, nagvis - we have them all mounted NFS) and started it up, was working perfectly.

However, I think I've found the cause. It looks like whenever I start Nagios 4 with mk-livetsatus, it doesn't display a check_multi check correctly. Attempted to configure mk-livestatus-1.2.4 and 1.2.5i4 with 'nagios4' as detailed in the manual but still the issue persists. If I then install Nagios 3.5.1 and mk-livstatus-1.1.6, everything works fine but 1.1.6 won't work with Nagios4.

I believe 1.2.4.p2 was working properly with core 4, have you tried that one out yet?:

I'm looking around elsewhere on the forums as I know this has come up before.

Hi Slansing,

Apologies for my late reply, I've been out of the office for a couple of days.

Unfortunately, mk-livestatus isn't the cause. I created a new CentOS VM, installed everything from the beginning and configured my host and services for only one host, checking one multi service and still the same output. I haven't install pnp4nagios or nagiosbp as yet, so haven't installed mk-livestatus so can rule that out as the culprit.

I'm beggining to run out of ideas! Running Nagios 4.0.7, Plugins 2.0.3 and check-multi_0.26, all the latest stable versions. Done a fair bit of Googling on the subject, and can't see any other users having the same issue so I assume I am the only person having check_multi issues with Nagios 4.0.7! :D

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going wrong ?

Thanks

Hi,

Beginning to look like check_multi not being compatible with Nagios4. Out of curiosity, are any of you guys out there running both ?

Thanks

No one in the office is running these. You may have better luck asking the check_multi guys directly:
