Nagios Support Forum

I have a VERY newbie question about Nagios. I have devices that can only call out. In an ideal world I would like to send Equipment data to Nagios via REST like calls, I would also like to use Nagios to Alart when the device hasn't checked in, in a while or if a data point is outside of parameters. Is possible or reasonable?

I'm sure I was unclear but please bear with me.

All of this is possible with passive checks (host sends results to Nagios) via NRDP (REST-like) and using a freshness check (checking in after X minutes of no contact).
