Nagios Core configuration is done on the CLI by editing the config files. Our commercial product Nagios XI has an Auto-Discover component that will do what you are looking for:

We do offer a free 60-day trial if you are interested.

Nagios XI is our commercial (paid) product. It is free up to 7 hosts, but beyond that it becomes a paid product. Nagios Core does not have auto-discovery features built in.
