20 + Hosts Greyed Out

I have about 20 some servers that look like this on the Service Detail screen:

Here's the detail for the CPU:
service check.JPG
Here's the Check Settings:
checksettings.JPG
I'll have to add the alert settings in another post since I've maxed out the 3 allowed.

And here's the alert settings:

These 20 some servers all have the new clients installed and were set up via the Monitoring Wizard.

I have no idea where to start on this.

Thanks

Do you have host checks defined for those? Show us the main tab of a host detail page with the issue? Additionally, does running a nagios restart resolve the issue within a moment or two?

Code: Select all

service nagios restart

Is this what you were referring to:

Or this:

I bounced the server just now, but that didn't fix it.

What do you mean wih 'bounce the server'? I'm having a similar issue every time after I reboot the server. The issue is solved after I apply configuration in CCM . So if you mean reboot, could you try to apply configuration and see if it's solved?

The second one is exactly what we were looking for. That host does not have a check defined, although that does not mean it doesn't have a template with a command defined. Could you look at the templates field and post the config or a screenshot of the second images page for the template, so that we can see if it has a check command? Also as a note, just like willem points out, rebooting will NOT solve the issue, you will need to either apply config, or do a service nagios restart.

Will do. "Bounce the server" means I got pissed and bounced it off the floor a couple of times.  Just kidding, yes it was a restart.

Someone's been jacking with the Host Template, gonna bounce that guys a--!!!!

Here's what it's like now:
tem1.JPG
That looks OK, but:
tem2.JPG
Max Check Attempts at 10 is WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
tem3.JPG
Notification Interval is wrong also.

What would you suggest I change on these, and I guess I would have to go through each host and change it there as well for the ones with the problem. Is that correct??

Sorry, that's the wrong template, instead of the windows server template, the Monitoring Wizard uses xiwizard_windowsserver_host, correct?

I think that's the one someone was messing around with because there is a copy and the original in the host templates.

Also, wrote the config files, now it's working, but it makes sense that something happened to the template that the monitoring wizard uses for Windows servers since all the servers that are having this issue are servers that were added in the last couple of months. Seems to be around the time I had the IT staff at our Maui hospital start installing the new clients and running the wizard to configure their servers.

What's the best way to get the template back to default. I think I'm going to delete all of Maui's stuff and have them start all over again.

UPDATE:
I deleted one of the servers that's greyed out after reboot. Ran the Monitoring Wizard for that server again, and now it's working properly. When I restart, it comes up green, I tripped and alerts and the notifications went out OK, so unless someone has a better suggestion, I guess I have to go through and delete and reconfigure all those servers.

You could just use the bulk host cloning wizard and copy the one host that works? You can configure lots of hosts and services in very small time period.
