Service escalation causing apply config errors

I need to setup a service escalation for our services. When I use the Escalation Wizard and try to finish the wizard, it errors during apply configuration. See the file attached for the error, but I don't know what service it actually has problems with because it doesn't actually write the file.

Take a look in the Core Config Manager for that service escalation and make sure it has all the required fields set, particularly the host name and service descriptions.

I deactivated all escalations and applied config and that worked. So I then started re-activating 10 at a time and applying. Finally came across a service that wouldn't apply. So I looked up that service and the actual service itself wasn't activated in the services under core manager. Once I turned that service on, I re-activated the service escalation and it worked. Since I'm working with 2,000 services, this is going to be quite a job to find all the services that might be deactivated so I can get service escalation to work!

Deactivating services can be tricky. Technically they are still there so the CCM (which is separate from the process that verifies the configs) doesn't see a problem. It's helpful to click the blue (!) icon in the CCM for a service to see what it is associated with in case it is disabled. Same goes for most things in the CCM.

Sure enough, once I made sure all services that had service escalations were activated in the CCM, service escalations could be activated and configuration applying succeeded.
