Hi,

After the upgrade to 2014r1.4 the check for updates screen is still showing Update in progress. Please wait. Update may take a few minutes.

Any idea?

How long did you wait? after that message was displayed? Are you able to open the upgrade log? If so, please post it here so we can take a look.
