After doing the modifications in nagios configuration files, should we compulsory do the service restart?
Is there any way to replicate the changes online..?

Nagios will need to be restarted in order for it to pick up config changes.

Thanks a lot for the update.
I have one more doubt,
In NagVis, when we move the cusor to a device it will preview the details of the device. But i am unable to view preview or edit few devices..i'm able to see for many devices , but only for a few it is like that ..tried in all the browsers.. but no luck. Any way to resolve this issue?

Well, you can't edit your configurations through NagVis if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking to do something else can you elaborate a bit more? Unfortunately, we do not directly support NagVis as they have their own team:

Thanks for the update ...I will check there..
and
When polling is not happening , we wil normally stop nagios,ndo2db,mysqld,npcd,postgresql services and start'em in the reverse order.. which will resolve the issue ( if there are no errors in configs, logs etc)
But when we are stoping the nagios service it is through the 'Warning - nagios did not exit in a timely manner"
kindly help me in knowing the root cause for this? and also any permanent fix?
I'm using nagios core Ver. 3.2.3..

By polling, are you talking about the actual running of check by Nagios? It's hard to get a root cause without additional information, this is the first we heard about this issue from you. Could you open a new thread that pertains directly to this so we can assist?
