Hi all,

If the user want to get the email/sms notification of hosts and services, where should I configure?

for example, host1 has 10 services. And user1 want to get the host1 and all the services notification. If we enable to get sms/email notification under host1, user1 will get the notification for all services of host1?

OR

we need to enable under all services of host1 to send notification to user1?

Thanks.

My advice to you from experience

1) Create Service Groups that has services that the user want notification for. If they want all then add all.
2) Create Service Template and assign service group to this template
3) Assign contact groups/contact to this service template

Create as many of this as required.

User will eventually want this notification and not the others etc etc etc. 2 different users will ask for 2 different things.
This way any changes will be very simple in the future.

So basically, if we want the notification about host and services, add the user contact in the host and in the services as well?

Thanks.

Well in my case, when I set a contact for host, by default all services also get notified even though it is not set in the services contact.

Nagios team to confirm

If a service is attached to a host and that service does not have any contacts/groups assigned, either directly or through a template, then it will pick up the contacts from the host.
