NRDS type deployment

As my monitored server base grows , I'm starting to worry about how I can push out monitoring changes (plugins/configs).
Windows doesn't seem to be a problem as most sites use some sort of SCCM, however this is not the case for the many Linux/Solaris servers we monitor.

I know there are products like Spacewalk , Puppet and even SCCM for the Unix servers, however I really like the functionality of NRDS and because I don't need to deploy yet another server for software deployment.

Any thoughts on how to use NRDS for my active monitoring environment?

regards... Fred

I don't believe you really can. You may be able to push the nrpe.cfg contents instead of a valid nrds config and then make sure nrpe uses that config, but you will most likely need to restart xinetd/nrpe on the remote as well (which is not really possible with the current version of nrds).

Thanks - I guessed that might be the answer but hoping someone might have come up with a solution. I might have a play and see what I can do.
Restarting xinetd isn't a problem as I have a plugin that does that, so Nagios can restart xinetd remotely.
