Feature request: disable active checks during downtime

Is there any existing feature request for something like this? I would really love a check box or something that allows us to disable active checks during scheduled downtimes and have active checks re-enabled when the downtime is over. I'm not sure if that's even possible, but it would be very handy for us. I've had 2 separate occasions now where a large scheduled downtime (think 700-1000 give or take service checks) will basically hard lock our server, requiring a reboot. That many state changes, even without notifications, causes the CPU's load to shoot up very quickly and gives the server a heart attack. It also would just be nice to not see a bunch of red in nagios when there's a scheduled maintenance going on. Management tends to forget to check if the hosts have that little grey circle indicating scheduled downtime on them and just panics when she sees all that red.

I don't know of one at the moment, and it would have to be a core feature request. I think at least reducing or removing the retry checks would be a large benefit as well. I'd suggest putting in a feature request over at github: https://github.com/nagiosentperprises/nagioscore
