Hello All,

I am new to Nagios and using core 3.2.3,

I have created a new hostgroup and added some win servers, now I want to add an e-mail to be notified about this hostgroup only.

I do have many hostgroup configured and e-mail notification working for group of people. I am not the original person who have configured this.

So you want to set this up, but it is already set up? That is what I understood that as. I suggest that you take a look at how the other admin had set it up in your environment as Nagios configurations can be built many different ways. You will not be able to receive email notifications for a hostgroup, but you can receive them for the individual hosts in the group.

Thanks for your reply, This setup is already configured and working good.
Currently a DL is added in nagios and if we add users to that DL, they receive e-mail about everything in nagios.


I just need help to add a new user contact in nagios, who should be notified about the issues only related to a new hostgroup that I have created.

I was looking in files Commands.fg, Contact.cfg but does not seems like the right place

I'm assuming the DL is assigned to a single contact (in contact.cfg)?

So then the name of that contact will be assigned to your existing host and services definitions, or perhaps in a host or service template.

To assign alerts to a contact for a specific hostgroup, this will need to be done a little bit differently.

I would look at setting up host and service escalations.
