Hi Team,

We are using Nagios XI 2014R1.0 on CentOS 6 with bash version 'bash-4.1.2-14.el6.x86_64'. Our Security team has issued a warning of a bug in this version of bash and suggested upgrading it & our System admin is planning to upgrade it to the version 'bash-4.1.2-15.el6_5.1.x86_64.rpm'. We are trying to understand if this will have any impact on nagios Application as this server is already in production. Please advise

As I understand it, that upgrade is mostly to fix the recent bug with bash function definitions executing the code that follows them and should not have any impact on the Nagios system. Myself and another Nagios employee are testing this now and will update if there are any problems, but I highly doubt this will be the case.

Been running it for half an hour now and I have not noticed anything breaking.

We will also have to install this update. I guess I'll start with our QA nagios XI server today.

Almost 24 hours on my system and I have seen no issues. I'm sure if people in general were having issues with upgrading bash we'd have heard about it with as much doom and gloom as the vulnerability itself.
