Is there a plugin, a script, or a way to be notified if a new host is found on the network? I have users that will spin up a new VM and not notify of its existence, and then wonder why they were not notified about up/down or disk space.

Does the Network Discovery Wizard work for you?

Otherwise this might need to be a custom plugin you write to perform this functionality.

It might work if the network discovery has the ability to be scheduled and to alert. I unfortunately am not the most proficient in scripting.

I believe we discussed this at the jumpstart area and that it likely needed to be a feature request. Let me look into if this currently works, and I will post back.

Spencer, have you found a viable way, or does this need a feature request?

I did not find a realistic approach with existing ways. Plugins and scripts could be written, but this really is something that should be at the XI level not something intermittently being checked. I did put in a feature request, we are just waiting on approval\implementation.
