Did the tcpdump reveal anything? Even though it is on the same host it will still be using well-known ports to communicate. If nothing is showing up in tcpdump then syslog is not properly set up to send results, and if there is something in the tcpdump then NLS might not be storing it properly. Or, you might have some filters set in the search that are hiding the data. Can you send a screenshot of the dashboard including the search bar?
