Notification 'from' address

Hi, I am configuring notifications and despite me putting in an email address in the 'manage email settings' area and the 'Manage system config' area the emails still are being sent by 'root@localhost'. This is the downloaded VM that was 1.3, upgraded to 1.5 then 1.6. Unfortunately, since I only recently started adding checks I am not sure if this would have happened prior to upgrading.

The email address in 'Manage System Config' is for a different purpose entirely. The setting you're looking for is just the one in 'Manage Email Settings'. Could you send a screenshot of this page as it's currently configured?
Also, have you changed the notification command or switched to using a different notification command?

Yeah, the update in System config was just eliminating possibilities. Below is a SS of the email settings screen.

Try changing the parentheses to angled brackets like this:
