What gets disabled if you do not license a Nagios XI install

We have a [potential] customer that has been trying Nagios XI for a few weeks now. They are small enough that they have decided that Nagios XI is "overkill" for what they want, but big enough that they have a lot invested in the initial setup for the demo. They have over 200 nodes so they would be looking at the Nagios XI unlimited node option.

Now, as a reseller and Nagios consulting company, we want them to be using Nagios XI. But we also want them to be happy and not pay for something they don't really want.

So the question they asked is - what happens if they simply do not activate the copy of XI that they have already running? What gets disabled?

They will be restricted to 7 hosts, and any Enterprise features will be locked. They will need to use the Free license to get the 7 hosts, otherwise it will be unusable. Either a trial or a Free license needs to be in use.

Okay, so the "Core" part of Nagios XI will not continue to function past the 7 hosts, then? Thanks. We'll suggest that they want the XI license rather than reinstalling with Core from scratch. :-)

Yes, but all extra features will have limited effectiveness due to the host restriction on the XI side.
