NagiosXI monitoring with SNMP

Hello All,

Hope you can help

We are a Nagios customer but I don't have the option to create a topic in the customer forum at the moment, how do I set this up?

I don't think it needs to be there though as it is more a question than issue.

We have the latest NagiosXI version installed and are looking at monitoring all of our devices through SNMP. I have been collecting MIB's for as many as I can find
ready to be uploaded to Nagios (anyone know of a good consolidated list of MIBs for download by the way?)

I have read the integrating SNMP document from Nagios but wondered if there was documentation on actually creating the hosts for SNMP and how to use the SNMP tools like SNMP walk etc..

Our current install of old Nagios Core uses the nsclient which I am plenty familiar with but going to completely clientless monitoring with SNMP seems like a minefield to me and totally different.

Any advice on where to start and handy tips, documentation or example would be great

Thanks

For the customer forum access, email [email protected] with your account info and they will get you set up.

For the SNMP issues, I would take a look at our monitoring wizards for this under Configuration -> Monitoring Wizard. There is a SNMP Walk wizard there which will allow you to pull all the queryable OIDs from the device. Otherwise if you have a list of OIDs you want to monitor specifically you can use the regular SNMP wizard to set these up.

Thanks for the reply, I also found the snmp trap interface board which I completely missed before so will be reading through that as well
