Monitoring Dynamic Hosts

I'm going to be monitoring some servers in the AWS environment. However they are going to be dynamic and stopped/started as required.
Is there some way to dynamically add/remove hosts so that Nagios is only monitoring them when they are running?

Check out Eric Loyd's presentation on this.

Thanks Troy
I was actually at that presentation & I remember about dynamically starting new instances but what I am looking for is some way to dynamically add/remove hosts from Nagios itself so that I don't get host down alerts if an instance is stopped.
I will check out the presentation again in case there was something I missed.
Thanks ... Fred

If that's what you are looking for, I would take a look at Activision's talk from 2012 on dynamic host\service additions\removal. They have a very dynamic system and would probably suite what you need.
