Nagios XI questions

Hi All,

We have recently started to use Nagios XI and splunk in our operations department (after previously using Nagios 3 for some months). I have some outstanding questions regarding Nagios XI which I am hoping you can help me with.

1) Can I use Pnp4Nagios (graphing) with NagiosXI? I see that graphing is already part of the rool therefore probably no need for it right?
2) For how long does Nagios store alert history? Where is this configurable?
3) Is there any good documentation on how to administer the nagios Pef db (mysql)?? Maintenance scripts?
4) I am using NDOUtils broker and mklivestatus (for use with Nagvis). Do you see any issues with this?

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick ;)

PNP4Nagios v0.4.x is installed on XI. This is what does all the processing of the performance data into rrd files. XI also uses a graphing engine called Highcharts which is the more modern graphs in Nagios XI. If you want the PNP4Nagios graphs in XI goto Admin > System Config > Manage System Config. Un-tick "Use Highcharts for Perfdata Graphs" and click Update Settings. NOTE: Do not install PNP4Nagios 0.6.x as this will break XI.

This is defined under Admin > System Config > Performance Settings. Refer to the Databases tab.

XI comes with NDOUtils already installed. You should not upgrade it to newer versions and the version that is distributed with XI is the one that it tested with the latest version of XI.
mklivestatus is fine as long as you are using the latest version of it.
