Nagios3 and nagios-plugins 2.x

Hi there,

I installed another nagios server, Ubuntu + nagios core from repositories (nagios3).
I have problems with check_http and I figured out there are some known issues with that version. ( now I have Version: 1.5-3ubuntu1).

Now I would like to install new version of nagios-plugins (nagios-plugins-2.0.3.tar.gz), and I would like to know if latest version of plugins is compatible with nagios3 core?

Though I would recommend upgrading to Core 4, the plugins, for the most part, do not deal with Core at all, they are called by your commands, yes, and they need to return proper return codes and status output, yes, but they don't hook into Core at all, requiring a specific version.
