Asked this questions in Nagios Log Server but need to understand for Nagios XI as well.

For now, lets say it's a all-in-one box, MySQL is local.

Our linux team creates separate partitions like so:

Our Linux admins break out our RHEL6 installs into separate partitions like so:

/
/boot
/var
/opt
/usr
/tmp

etc

I believe MySQL puts the databases in /var and nagios puts everything in /usr. I noticed when I added about 350 hosts during my stress test, /usr space went up quite a bit.

Can you guys tell me what partitions I should make sure have adequate space for say 600 hosts and about 8000 to 10000 checks? Most of these will be NCPA checks. No SNMP.

Not asking for exact numbers here, just which partitions need to be custom sized for growth.

/var and /usr should be able to grow.
/boot, /opt, and /tmp should not need to be expandable.
