Nagios Replacement Server Build

Ok, I have built a new Centos 7 server, and have downloaded the latest version of Nagios XI. My question is - is there a way to copy or export my current Nagios checks (config) to the new server? We have lots of checks going on and would like to keep them without having to setup all the checks again.

Thanks !!

Absolutely, are you moving from core to XI? Or XI to XI? You can follow these two documents to move your configs over, alternatively if moving from XI to XI, you can restore an XI backup to the new installation (preferably on the same version as the original XI server, then upgrade it).

slansing,

Thanks for the info. Yes, I am move XI to XI. I will guess to say (Before I read the info), that I need the older version installed first then upgrade it after the restore.
I will read the documentation and thanks for the input.

One thing I definitely want to stress is that a backup -> restore procedure will revert you to whatever version the backup was made on. So if you take a backup of a 2012R2.9 and try to restore to a 2014R2.0, you will go back to 2012.

I would definitely recommend doing the config import, but if you want to do the backup -> restore just make sure to update the old server first before doing the backup.
