Nagios Notification alerts count

Post by venkitesh »

HI All,

i have configured nagios xi server and succesfully integrated with mail server and sms gateway.

So now email and sms alerts are working fine.

But facing some issues with alerts counts.

Please find my requirements.

1. If any device( Server, storage, router switch etc) is going down wait for 30 seconds before sending an alert as it can be due a network flapping also.
2. After 30 seconds also if it is down, send one sms and email notification to the concerned groups which we have assigned.
3. Then send sms and email after every 5 minutes if It is still down.
4. Once the device comes up send one sms and email to the concerned group.
5. Count of sms and email is important.

Kindly help.

This is going to depend on your check intervals, etc, but Nagios XI performs checks in a minimum of 1 minute increments, so if you change the 30 second requirements to 1 minute, we can show you how to set those up

For the object, in the ccm, navigate to the Check Settings tab and set your check interval to 5, set your retry interval to 1 (one minute), then set your max attempts to 1 (essentially 1 minute looking at the retry interval). Then go to the alert settings tab and set your notification interval to 5, which would mean 5 minutes. Save, and apply config.
