Dear Folks

I am running Nagios XI 2012R1.3 and I had to delete one host from nagios , the INFO showed it has dependent relationship

Database Relationships for host : ABC
Items labeled as: 'Dependent relationships' will prohibit deletion
Object ID: 247 of table tbl_host:
Relation to Hostgroups, entry: GROUP XYZ
Relation to Services, entry: Memory Usage-Memory Usage



Now In order to delete host I understand I have to delete those two relationships first. So I tried to update the hostgroup GROUP XYZ first , removed the host from GUI and applied configuration but nothing happens , the host comes back in the host group. I also tried to update the Service and commit and save the configuration but still nothing happens and the service is still there configured with that host.

Can anyone please advise what I am doing wrong ?

How the host ABC was added to the XYZ hostgroup?

Core Config Manager->Host Groups->XYZ->Manage Hosts->ABC->Add Selected
Core Config Manager->Hosts->ABC->Manage Host Groups->XYZ->Add Selected

Make sure you actually were able to remove the dependent relationship as it is possible it was set up via "the other method".

After you remove the host from the hostgroup (or hostgroup from the host) and save, do you still see this relationship listed when you click on the host relationship "INFO" button?

Just found out when I did the same operation using LEGACY CCM it worked all as expected

I think the new CCM is buggy on my host , it doesnt do what we do and also dont show any errors which is very alarming.

You are running a very old version of Nagios XI. Many of the CCM (and other) bugs have been fixed in the newer versions of XI. I would recommend upgrading to the latest revision of XI.
