Hello,

I am looking for an easier way to copy the check mk configs and import into Nagios XI.. Is there a document that explains this or can someone please reply here and explain how this can be accomplished, there are a lot of devices in our environment and we are currently on check mk transitioning to Nagios XI.

Thank you.

We don't have an official document on migration from Check MK to Nagios XI. Can you show a few examples of configs that you need to import?

I apologize I do not have that information readily available, I am more asking in a general sense, I was under the impression that CheckMK has a back end with Nagios and a web driven front page.

So in general is there a good way of doing this?

Check_MK started as a bit of an interface polish for Nagios Core some many years ago. It turned into its own thing and now has very complex configuration files not at all based upon the original Nagios model. There may be a way to parse and automate the process a bit, but unfortunately the constructs in the configs are more static than in Nagios' configs and in many cases simply don't exist. It started as one thing but turned into something completely different.

There is no official migration strategy. If you started with Nagios, then went to Check_MK it would be likely that you're using the older "deprecated" Nagios style configs in which case the migration process would be more seamless. I'd guess you didn't go that route and generally most of your config was done from the Check_MK interface in which case you'll be using the Check_MK Python based configs.

Afraid to say it but the best news we have to offer is that our wizards make setting up the new environment pretty quick and easy. If you can scare up a sample of some of your configs we might be able to see if there is some hope, but I'm afraid the migration path is gloomy.
