Hi there,

We have many problems in our Nagios XI enviroment, time ago. We did all you could using yout documentation regarding increase performance, improve mysql database, but problems persits regarding performance of service.

So in this point, we would like to know if it is possible to use our licence, to set up a new server, starting over, or if it is possible to delete all mysql records (we don't mind loss old data, if we can keep the configuration-host/services/hostgroup/contacts groups...); Also, generete all MySQL tables (empty)...

Our enviroment is this: CentOS 6.6, Apache/2.2.15, NagiosXI 2012R2.2, 8 Vcpu, 8GB Ram, 710 host monitored, 2030 host monitored.

Each Nagios XI license is approved for up to three installations: one primary monitoring/production, one backup/failover, and one test environment.
As long as you are only using one install for production monitoring, you are within the boundaries of our licensing policy.

To migrate to a new server, you could follow these steps:

1. Backup your old Nagios XI instance, following this document.
2. Install Nagios XI on the new server (it is preferable to have a "clean" install on the same OS/Architecture as on the old server)
3. Move the backup to the new server
4. Restore from the backup that you transferred earlier following the same document (step 1)

Hints:
1. Use the same IP for the new server if possible. This will eliminate the need to add the new IP on all remote machines that you are monitoring via NRPE, NSClient++, etc.
2. Disable notifications temporarily, until you make sure that everything works fine
3. Don't remove the old instance, before you make sure the new one functions properly.
