Can't integrate NSClient++ with Windows Server 2003 R2
Can't integrate NSClient++ with Windows Server 2003 R2
While i am trying to install NSClient++ in Windows Server 2003 R2 it shows that that this package is not compatible with this server.
Is there any other way to integrate windows server 2003 with nagios? So that i can get normal services like NSClient++ does offer:
For your information, Windows 2012 R2, Windows 7 & other servers are working fine.Regards

Are you are trying to install the 64 bit version of the NSClient++ on 32 bit Windows Server?
Try installing the 32 bit version of NSClient++ instead.

A little update. Just now i have tried with one of my windows server using 32/64 Bit. Its not working. Have a look on the bellow error. Translation is i need to install a specific service pack package for this.
Its little bit depressing. For linux host there is nothing to do. So, for Windows why its becoming necessary to configure in client end? Is it possible to configure in Nagios end without anything configuring in Windows(Client) side? Same what we do for Linux Host!
It will ease a lots of hard work. Expecting your kind help!

You must have some agent on Linux also - NRPE or SNMPD maybe?lsazzad wrote:Its little bit depressing. For linux host there is nothing to do. The easiest solution with Windows if you don't want to install packages is to use WMI. Here is a document we publish for our commercial product NagiosXI, but with a little interpretation it should work for Core just the same. It's intended to be used with the plugin check_wmi_plus.pl

Re: Can't integrate NSClient++ with Windows Server 2003 R2
Hello Guys,
I am back! This time with solution & problem . Really i appreciate Nagios forum's cordial support.
I have tried NSCLIENT-0.4.2.88 version & worked for 4 Windows server. After that for few server i have tried NSCLIENT-0.4.0.169 version & it works!
But for two server(Windows 2000) facing strange problem: Please note that same version of NSCLIENT++(NSCLIENT-0.4.0.169) is working for windows 2003 Server. So, i guess its happening due to OS platform.
Any idea or should i try older versions?

On the failing server, try rebuilding windows performance counters:
then restart the NSClient++ service.
Let us know if this fixed your issue. Thanks!
Code: Select all
cd\windows\system32
lodctr /R
