Initially, I attempted load balancing a cluster of 2 NLS nodes with no success (when I added hosts to be logged, the number of hosts logged would not increase.) I gave up and let DNS round robin them. It works now, but, ideally, I'd like to do this on the F5. Do you have any suggestions in how to get this to work? Will I need two separate "virtual servers? with one listening on port 80 and the other on 5544? The main focus here is to achieve a failsafe situation where one node goes down, the logs are being routed to the one that's active. In the case of DNS, it will still route logs to the dead box.

My guess is that your F5 load balancers might be re-writing the source IP addresses of your remote hosts. Can you check on that?

No problem - that's the most likely cause for the number of hosts not increasing properly. Let us know what you find out!
