Report Trends for several hosts / identify outages

Post by Karlo_GR »

Hello nagios specialists,

as I'm new in this board, I want to take the chance to introduce myself, I'm Karlo and I have set up a nagios 3.5.1 for some hosts.
Nothing with special services or similar, I just want to see if they're reachable or if they're offline. So for each host, there is a check_ping and thats it.

Basically it was a lot of try&error in the beginning, but finally the system is running fine. Everythings working and there are no problems.

There is this great "View Trends for this Host" function for each host, where you have a nice graph with really useful analized data. Probably all of you know that.
No I have asked myself,
- Is it possible to create multiple trends graphs for several hosts at the same time, so as not to create each trend manually?
- Or maybe a hole graph over a hostgroup?
The result should be, to be able to report and identify when there where outages of several hosts at the same time.

I'm searching for something like that since weeks, and I haven't found anything which even comes close to my idea. I don't think I'm the first who was thinking about that, so I said to myself "ask the professionals" and here I am :)

I'm happy for every suggestion or idea

Regards,
Karlo

I don't believe this is possible in Core currently. You could file a feature request for it here: https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nagioscore

Hi tmcdonald,

not the answer I was hoping for, but thanks for your feedback and the suggestion!
To be honest I guess if nothing like that exist so far, probably it will not be implemented on my little request :D

I will try on to find a way to receive those information and will post if I may find sth.

Meanwhile it would be nice to keep this thread alive in case someone else knows a solution for this kind of report.

Best regards,
Karlo

I would really put in a feature request if this is something you want. It may seem like it won't get traction, but if enough people express an interest in it then it is much more likely to be implemented.
