The longer that Nagios XI runs, the slower it is. I'm currently in the process of updating the removing most of the service checks. However, when I click on anything that uses the Hypermap, it takes a long time to load. The issue though is with how long it takes to load the Hostgroup Grid. If Nagios has been running for a few days, it takes a very long time for that to pages to load. If I reboot the instance, it improves dramatically but that is a very intrusive fix. I've read throught Maximizing-Performance-In-Nagios-XI.pdf and I'm not sure those things will have any impact on what I'm seeing.

How many hosts / services do you have?
What is the most common plugin used?

Reaper Settings do have a small improvement.
The Performance Settings > Pages helps if you have a lot of users connected.
RAM Disk helps greatly.
Offloaded MySQL helps in larger installations.
