Alerting on a time schedule?

Is there the ability to have alerts only run during a specific time schedule? We have some alerts that we only want to run during specific hours. Like only run 6:00am - 11:00pm etc?

Thank you.

Not currently possible, though I can see how that would be useful. Either on a per-alert or a per-user basis, would a simple "Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM" be enough? It likely would not be as complex as the logic available in Core/XI with exclusions and whatnot, but should cover 90% of the cases. And if you need any further customization or granularity, you can always tie in to an existing XI setup and send notifications using the timeperiods and contacts you have set up there. That functionality is built-in with Logserver and was designed specifically to tackle this sort of issue so it's pretty simple to set up. Would that be an option for you?

Pardon my quick and dirty MS Paint skills, but would something like this be possible in a future release?

That's basically what I had in mind, shouldn't be terribly difficult to implement though that would be up to the developers. I can file a feature request for this if you would like. And we would likely draw the line here as far as customization, since XI already has the advanced time period logic in place.

I think that's fair. At least a basic scheduling tool like the mock-up would be very handy when using NLS as a stand-alone product without cannibalizing XI too much.

I definitely agree that a tool like this could be useful. I've implemented a feature request (TASK ID 6108). Feel free to reference this task ID to any Nagios technician and we can check the status for you. Thanks!
