Bulk Modifications to add contact

I have created several services which I assigned to a Service Template. The Service Template is then assigned to the appropriate Hostgroup. I have all the Alert and Check setting configured within the Service Template but need to add another Contact Group to several hosts. I was going to do so with the Bulk Modification tool but after doing so I didn't see the + option. So, I am trying to determine if my hosts that I use the Bulk Modification tool with to add an additional Contact Group will still keep the Contact Group I assigned within my Service and Host Templates? On the onesie twosies I would manually add the Contact and/or Contact Group, I'm trying to stay with the Groups to make administration easier, I would include the + for these on the Hosts and Services.

jkinning,
I think I understand the problem as you see it, but I'm also not able to really quantify it as a problem.

Bulk mod assigning contacts to hosts will not affect services at all. It *WILL* overwrite the contact groups defined in host templates though. Since early in the post you seemed more concerned about the service template situation, I'm not sure that it will matter to you, host contact-groups (typically - with some minor exceptions) don't affect service contacts/contactgroups.
As for the "problem as you see it" - I agree that the (+) missing is an oversight on our part and I'm going to see if the developers can squeeze it into the next Rev.

The devs definitely agree, this is an oversight.
Bug report 6209 submitted. Expect this to be resolved in the next release.

Thanks for the bug submission.
I think maybe I need to clear a few more loose ends. I am using Service Templates and Host Templates. My Host Templates also have the Check and Alert Setting and using a basis check_ping (check_icmp) command. Within the Alert Settings I have a Contact Group specified. The Service Template is setup in a similar way and in my example here they are both using the same Contact group defined in the both the Host and Service Template Alert Settings. So when I create a new host I assign the new Host to the appropriate Host Template. I have my specific Services assigned to a Service Template which references the appropriate Host group. I needed to add a newly created group which I needed to add to a few hosts within a Host group. These hosts already had a Contact group I just wanted to add an additional Contact group so both the Host (up or down) would send out the appropriate notifications to the two Contact groups and/or send the appropriate notifications to these two groups if any of the services that are defined went critical.
Hope that helps clear some of the air but it sounds like when I added that second Contact group my original Contact group was lost. There are 12 hosts that are part of this new Host group so I can manually add them with the + on each hosts if that is the case.

Right, so as I read it the problem still applies, just the services bit doesn't matter? Or you're wishing to add contact groups to the service templates as well? Either way, the process is the same and the (+) option just isn't there.
Sorry about the oversight, we'll get it cleared up for the next version.

Thanks. That is what I wanted to verify. I'll change everything back and add the Contact Groups manually using the +.
Feel free to close.
