What is the best way to get the service description named the same as the interface name on cisco devices? I am using the built-in discovery features of Nagios XI and have tried both options. However, the options either give it a nondescript Number or it uses the Interface description rather than the Interface name. I have to look at Status Information to see the actual interface name.

What version of Nagios XI are you running?
What is the version of the Network Switch / Router wizard are you running?
You can go to Admin > Manage Config Wizards to find the version.
The latest version for the Wizard is 2.1.8 so you may want to upgrade it.

BTW, I tested this on XI version 2.7 with the latest wizard and the interface names were displayed like you want.
