Hi,

/tmp/out is 5GB and it is utilizing / FS. When i use "fuser -cu /tmp/out" there are many process in aapche, root, postgress process, nagios, haldaemon are using this file. I am not sure if we can rotate this file on the go. or we should stop, nagios or wlsagent servrice and then we can rotate this file.

Right now we only have 240MB in /.

Please advice.

Thanks,
Tino Thomas

The safest thing to to is to stop the processes, remove the file and start the processes again.

Thansk for your input. I was also wondering about the same. But the simple gzip on .tmp.out. It worekd out well. It automatically created reduced the size and all current logs are saved in new /tmp/out file.
