Mod_Gearman and Nagios XI

We have Nagios XI 2014R2.7 on RH 6.5. We are looking at the solution of installing Mod-Gearman on separate servers to distribute the tasks to Mod-Gearman workers to reduce the load on the Nagios XI server.

I have a few questions regarding Mod-Gearman:
- Is Mod-Gearman developed by Nagios or other company or contributor?
- Is Mod-Gearman free or licensed? If it is licensed, how the license works?
- Nagios XI has a number of workers running by default. What is the difference between these Nagios XI workers and Mod-Gearman workers?

Thanks!

mod_gearman is a third-party project and is not developed by Nagios. It is free of cost. The difference between the Nagios workers and mod_gearman is that the workers run locally to handle checks, and mod_gearman can be used to run checks on a remote machine.

Thanks for the quick response!

I believe I can download Mod-Gearman from the Nagios website at
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/mod_ ... x86_64.rpm

Is this the latest rpm for Mod-Gearman or I need to go to the third-party website to download it ?

Thanks again!

I would recommend following the steps, outlined in the document below:

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios_XI.pdf

There are sections in the doc for server & worker installations.

Is there anything else we can do for you, or is this one all right to be closed?
