service check timeouts

Manual installation (reléase 2012R2.2)
Hi,
we have a problem when checking service in one node.
On /var/log/messages, we can see an error with xinted service:
Some days the checks running well, but another days fails.
we change value parameters in /etc/xinted.conf, but there isn´t running well.
any sugestion?

Usually this means either the Nagios host is not in the list of allowed IP addresses, or that SSL support was not compiled in. However, the fact that this is intermittent is odd. You may have a limitation being hit - the same section in the PDF goes over removing the limits in xinetd to the connections from remote machines.

we have made some changes in the following files:
/etc/xinetd.d/nrpe (append this lines)
/usr/local/nagios/nrpe.cfg (change value 120 to 180)
/etc/xinetd.conf (change value cps
after that, we will see if the problems are reproduced...

Could you post how the service check is defined on the Nagios Xi system that is giving you issues?
Also, are there any errors in the log file on the XI system?
Can you check this log file and post any errors for that check.

How did you install the Linux agent (NRPE + Nagios plugins) on the remote machine? Did you follow
this document?
Run the following commands from the command line and show the output in code wraps:

Is your IP statically set on the Nagios server or is it using DHCP? Does it have multiple NIC interfaces in use?
Do you perhaps have an old version of NRPE still running in the background that would cause the intermittent results?
Can you post a copy of your /usr/local/nagios/etc/nrpe.cfg for us to look at?
