Adding a new service to an existing host

Hi,

Just running the evaluation copy of Nagios XI. Seems pretty straight forward compared to Nagios Core but one thing that doesn't seem obvious or is long winded is adding a new service to an existing host.

E.G. setup a new host using the discovery wizard, basically monitoring anything out of box. I then wanted to add a new service to check a windows service... the only was I could add it was to re-discover it with the wizard and specify the windows service then.

Or am I completely missing something? Do we add new services the way we did in Nagios Core specifying the command but through the GUI?

Much Appreciated,

You are completely missing something. :-)

Go to "Configure" then "Core Configuration Manager" then select the "Services" tab on the left and you can add/remove/edit services on any of your machines.

@peakyblinder,

Did @eloyd's suggestion work out for you?

Hi,

Yes, question answered... Sort of new it already but wanted to check. For some reason I though it would be... more intuitive.

Thank you!

You could also set up templates that assign the service to a hostgroup so you only need to put the host in the right template, inherit all the right hostgroups, and then services are automatically assigned. But you still need to add the service.
