Hello,

The new status icons are still not representative for the current situation of XI. The problem is that the apply process takes 30 seconds. During this process there are at least 10 seconds during which hosts and services are not visible. As the number of Nagios using users grows, this gives a lot of confusion and questions.
The status icon stay green during an apply. In the past the status icons were inconsistent and could be red or blue, but at least users knew something was going on.

It should be possible with Javascript to change the color of the icon to blue during an apply configuration and change it back to green when the apply configuration is done? This would avoid a lot of confusion imho. I made http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=571 to improve the status icons, but I think the new status icon is less informative then before? This might only be applicable in large environments, but I'm guessing I'm not the only one with 250+ hosts? So can I re-open this fr? Or is this thing really technical impossible?
I doesn't need to be visible in this specific status icon, it can also be another icon. But users must know in some way when an apply configuration is running.

Thanks Trevor, please note that this will prevent a lot of misunderstanding and confusion. I can understand the apply process takes time in large configurations, but the least that should be done is notifying our users. I've had many users complaining they are not finding the host they are looking for, while this was caused by me or another colleague applying.

You can close this if you like.

It will be a little trickier doing this for all users in lock-step, since actions from one user affecting another user's browser directly is generally A Bad Thing™. I thought you mean just to have the Apply Config button also directly set the icons for X amount of time. I will still make the request, but it might need to be a little more vague so the developers can do it their way.

@WillemDH - I have filed a feature request for this, ID #7252. As that has been completed, I'll close this thread out now, but as always, feel free to open a new one if you ever need assistance.
