i'm monitoring a long url with illegal characters( =#?) . I can't name the service description with whole URL so I named it in service display_name instead. But in nagiosxi on service status details page, I can't see the service display name with whole url. I'm monitoring a lot of urls. If I can't see the whole url for services then I don't know which one is which when checking their status. Is there a way to show service_display_name when I click on services or add extra colum for display name in nagiosxi?

I have sort of an answer:
In XI 5 there is a per-user option to show host or service aliases.
In the XI screen, at the top right click your username
On the Account Information page tick the box "Display service aliases"
Click Update Settings
Now go back to the service detail screen
Now you will see the alias in brackets:

However it does appear to get cut off as the display_name I created is about three times longer than what is displayed.
Does this work for you?

Yes, it works for now. Is there any patches to fix this issue soon? Also, on the Service Status Detail page, it only shows HOST, SERVICE, SERVICE GROUP right now. Is there an option to display service alias as well?
thanks

As of now, there isn't a way to do that. We could put in a feature request if you like.

I have created a feature request for this, ID 6900.
What version of XI are you running?
