Actions

So if you are checking for a specific linux service lets say and its stopped. Is there a way to monitor that and set an action in there to restart it? Does nagios have that capability? I am guessing you could write your own script and call that via ssh but wondering if there is a better way.

Yes, we call those event handlers. There's a document with a bit more information regarding this @
