I have an install of nagiosxi 2009R1.4B on CentOS 5.6.

The wizard for adding machines works great, however I can't find any sane option in the web interface to modify what is monitored on an added machine (e.g. if I wanted to add an additional process to monitor, and/or lower an alert threshold).

I see that there is a new version, 2011R1.7. If there have been substantial UI improvements since then, just let me know and I'll happily try the upgrade and report back.

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with the interface for modifying the configuration of existing hosts and services. Nagios XI 2011R1.7 does not offer any changes in this area, but we are working on an improved version of the Core Configuration Manager for an upcoming release which will hopefully address your concerns.

I finally found what I was looking for under Core Management -> Monitoring -> Services.

It would be nice if the advanced configuration link given in the Services Detail from Nagios proper (e.g. "This service appears to make use of an advanced configuration. Use the Nagios Core Config Manager to modify the settings for this service") brought you anywhere close to where you wanted to go rather than just being a static link to Core management.

Also, it seems odd that essentially all of the default linux services count as "using advanced configuration" options to Nagios proper. I have hopefully clicked on "reconfigure this service" about a dozen times, and been disappointed with the result each time.
