Hi,

I am interested in gathering attributes of all network/compute (bare metal/hypervisors)/storage devices. I looked at SNMP Walk Wizard and auto discovery using nmap options, it gathers very minimal information about the devices discovered. A device has many aspects like vendor, model, network interfaces to name a few. How can I get information about all these aspects of a devices and can I store this additional attributes of devices in the host inventory generated?
I have some custom scripts which I used to discover this additional information and I would preferably use Nagios to store this additional device attributes in the hosts inventory if possible.

Any suggestions?

This is true, but not everything openly broadcasts all of that information to the world. What enhancements would you like to see to the wizard that makes it gather more information that it is right now?

I'm not completely sure where you would like this information stored. In the comments for the device, or something else? I could feature request this if you have a nice idea for it. Again, this is complicated since not every device puts that information out there for the world to see.

If the custom scripts are something that would work across a wide variety of environments, you could post the information here, and I could make an enhancement request if it is something that will improve the autodiscovery wizard and help a lot of people out. As far as importing the information, I would need more information on where you would like to see the data stored.

I would be more than happy to get your ideas in a feature request if it is something that can make the autodiscovery wizard better for everyone.
