Monitoring Mac OSX System Log

Post by Lint »

Hi,

I'm using NSClient++ for monitoring Windows servers Event log. I have found it usefull especially when some application is crashing all the time.

Is there any similar way to monitor OSX System Log? I'm using NCPA client for monitoring OSX processes, but it can't be used for System Log monitoring or can it?

OSX can send the syslogs off anywhere by changing some syslog configuration.

I would recommend you take a look at Nagios Log Server if you're interested in log monitoring. You can do 500MB/day of logs with the free version.

I've set up my MacBook to send logs to Nagios Log Server, so I can confirm it is possible.
