Hi,

I work for an MSP and we have a requirement to produce weekly and monthly SLA reports from Nagios. I found the labs posting regarding this feature being in development. Is it possible to test this feature please?

Thanks.

Should probably also note the following:

We're using Nagios XI 2011R1.7, on CentOS 5.5. This is a manual install running inside a vSphere 4.1 VM.

You can go ahead and post them on exchange.nagios.org, and go ahead and send [email protected] an email with the list of links on what you've got and we'll help promote them.

I tested the scheduled reporting the last couple days but i do have a question. The pdf that got created shows the nagiosxi logo on top, is it possible to change this to our own company logo?

Yeah you should be able to as long as you don't mind doing a tiny amount of source editing.

Put the logo you want in the nagiosxi/html/images/ directory. The image should be .png format and 100 px wide and 42 pixels tall.

Then open the file

nagiosxi/html/includes/fpdf/nagiospdf.php and edit line 33 by replacing the nagiosxi-logo-small.png with the filename of the picture you wanted. This may require some tweaking on your end but thats the gist of it.

I will try that later on.

Also i noticed a small error in the documentation. On the 3rd line it says chmod +x, but it doesn't say NagiosXI-ScheduledReports.sh. I know its not much but if you are like me you kinda forget those things as i am no linux guru.

For the rest it works just great. I hope there will be a possibility to add own reports or designs later on aswell.

Dohmen,

Yeah thats in the works for sure to go into the actual release of this plugin but its nowhere near test ready at this point.

Also thanks for pointing out the mistake in the doc, I fixed it. Thanks for that.

Hi again,

I have a few suggestions for future release of this module:

At the moment the reports show host and service availability with no option to choose one or the other. For instance I may want just a host availability report and not necessarily see the service availability and vice versa.

I can't find where you specify the time period to show availability from. Is it all 24x7? In the legacy report you could select different time periods to report on, so even though I may be monitoring 24x7 to get alerts etc., my SLA may only be for 9-5 so I would report on 9-5.

Also not sure how this would work but it would be nice to view some status metrics on service availability, i.e. for services where you have perfmon data, and this is being captured to an rrd, it would be cool to show a min, max and avg for service metric. Kind of the like the summary under a cacti graph. I know obviously this one would be quite difficult.

The capability to add perfomance graphs to a report would also be good, maybe a shopping basket type menu where you select the grpahs, the display order, build up the report, and then schedule it.

The feature to export to PDF or CSV would be so handy to add to any of the views. Sometimes I want to look at my Service Group and then export the table to PDF. I guess for this to work effectively you may need to change the option for number of records per page from the maximum of 100 to unlimited so you can capture all rows to the report.
