Nagios XI on OEL?

Hello,

I know that Nagios XI can be installed on RHEL and CENTOS distributions. But is it possible to install it on OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux) ? Since OEL Aims to be fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

While it may be possible - we cannot support such a system as it doesn't fall under our requirements. They might aim to be fully compatible, but things are still going to be a bit different.

Alright thank you for the answer. I would have to VM a centos or redhat on top of it then.

One more question, Is it possible to create 2 Nagios XI as HA when they are both on VMs (and different servers) ?

This is the recommended strategy for setting up HA, removing any single points of failure by having two different VM's (or bare hardware) that are hosted on two different servers. There are a number of ways to accomplish this, the one I know best, being an employee of LINBIT, is using DRBD to replicate the data and the surrounding tools, Pacemaker and Corosync to automate switchover between the instances. Traffic is typically directed between machines by using a virtual ip that switches between the machines in the cluster and can be set up on any machines, both virtual and physical that runs Linux. While the tech guide is using centos 6.5, it can be set up on any linux LTS version. Both the Nagios sales team and LINBIT sales team can assist with having LINBIT engineers install this on your existing XI installation.

With setups like this, we (Nagios) handle support for our own software only - any issues with the DRBD setup need to be handled by Linbit. However, please note that if you are not a current paying customer we will need to do support in the forums.
