We had a server upgrade on Tuesday and i'm trying to add the new servers to nagios alerts. i remoted to the server and installed the nagios client to them already. there are 4 in total and only 1 out of 4 was successful. i keep getting this error " Nagios Core 4.1.1

***> One or more problems was encountered while processing the config files...

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data defintions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed."

Please keep in mind that i just took over this duty of taking care of nagios on Monday, so i am currently in the learning process and i don't know much about nagios. I already checked to make sure that IP address were correct and that the service i needed monitor was correctly spelled. i uninstalled the client and reinstalled it to be sure. it worked with no issue on the 1st sever i tried and i did it the exact same way that i was shown on the other 3. Please advise. thank you in advance.

In the Nagios XI UI go to:
Configure > Core Config Manager

+ click the blue Services box
+ Under the Config Name Column you should see the name mentioned in the error mssg -- "edmtel-reader1" -- click on this and the Service Management window appears (2 items to check here)

1) under Common Settings -- make sure the Description field is filled out
2) Click the "Manage Hosts" button -- apply this service to a host

Save changes and apply configuration.

If issue persists, please let us know of the error message as well as what client (NSClient++, NCPA, etc) you have installed on the remote server you are configuring to be monitored, as well as the Server OS/version.

Thank you. I checked the description of each one and it already had the description in there. However, I did notice that there were multiple services for each attempt i had made yesterday to configure these and so i removed every one of them and lo and behold it let me configure them. The only thing i can think of that got in my way yesterday was that the severs had their firewalls on and even after i turned them off it didn't accept it. Which that may not even be the reason why, but they are configured now and being monitored after I removed all services from my previous attempts and started over. Thank you for your help.
