I have been searching on how to only display only the main hostgroup, with child hostgroups under it, in the hostgroup details instead of showing all hostgroups. I would like to display just the mother hostgroup, and when you click on that it displays the children hostgroups that belong to it.

I did find this post here, it's a bit old. But it says that there was a feature request put in. I attempted to locate the feature request on tracker.nagios.com, but the ID is not there. Does anyone know if anything was ever done for this?

This was filed internally, so it won't be on tracker.nagios.com. Unfortunately the feature request was canceled, the reason given by the devs is that Nagios Core (the engine that handles all the config logic) does not have a concept of hostgroup/servicegroup parents. If you add one group to another, Core compresses this down in-memory to essentially one giant group, which makes it impossible to show which contains the other.
